No referral is needed to make an appointment. If you’re unsure whether this service is the right fit, you’re welcome to get in touch first to ask any questions.
-
No referral is required to book an appointment. However, if you have a referral from your GP or psychiatrist (for example, an Eating Disorder Care Plan or Chronic Disease Management Plan), you may be eligible for Medicare rebates.
We also accept private health insurance depending on your level of cover.
-
All dietetic consultations are 50 minutes with a fee of $180.
If you’re eligible, Medicare rebates may apply with a valid GP or psychiatrist referral. Private health rebates may also be available depending on your fund and cover. Please contact us if you’d like help understanding what rebates you may be able to access.
We also have a number of sliding scale places available for clients who hold a valid Health Care Card. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss this option.
-
We know that life doesn’t always go to plan. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a 50% fee, and missed or no-show appointments will be charged at the full fee. This policy helps us ensure that your appointment time can be offered to someone else who may be waiting for support.
-
At the moment, all appointments at The Recovering Place are offered via Telehealth only. This allows us to provide flexible, accessible care while still ensuring you receive the same level of support as you would in person.
-
Our Telehealth sessions are held through Zoom. You’ll receive a secure Zoom link by email two days before your appointment. If you don’t receive the link by the day before your session, please get in touch so we can resend it to you.
All you need is a quiet, private space and a stable internet connection — and you’re ready to go.
-
At The Recovering Place, we support people aged 15 years and over.
If you are under 15 and looking for support, we encourage you (or your family) to speak with your GP for referral options to specialist services for younger clients.
-
Your first session at The Recovering Place is a chance for us to get to know you and understand what brings you here. We’ll talk about your experiences with food and body, as well as what you’re hoping to gain from our work together. There is no pressure to share everything at once — sessions move at your pace.
We will also explain how we work, answer any questions you might have, and discuss the next steps. Our aim is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported right from the beginning.
